Online system suspension
25 January 2022, Hong Kong – The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers has suffered a suspected cyber incident disrupting access to the Institute’s server infrastructure. The Institute has swiftly followed due procedure and reported the case to the Hong Kong Police. The incident has resulted in a possible data breach with the Members’ personal information being compromised, we have notified all Members of this via email.
A cybersecurity consultant has also been engaged to investigate the incident as we are looking to monitor and mitigate the incident as far as possible. Public access to the HKIB public website is not affected. To safeguard Members’ information security when using our online system, the HKIB has suspended some of the Member-only services and events until further notice. The operation of HKIB office and FLEX Learning remains in place and operating as normal.
