Individual Membership of the HKIB is divided into six classes. Each membership class is tailored to individuals’ specific needs at each stage in their banking and financial careers.
Member Class
Honorary Fellow
Honorary Fellow membership is the highest level of membership one can achieve within the Individual Membership structure. Members of this class are elected by Council following a recommendation by the Executive Committee. They are distinguished individuals having exemplary accomplishments and contributions to the banking and financial community and/ or to the Institute locally or globally.
Fellow Certified Banker (Fellow CB)
Fellow Certified Banker is a high tier Individual Membership. Members of this class are elected by Council following a recommendation by the Executive Committee, and are holders of relevant HKIB professional designations. They will typically have a proven commitment and contribution to the Institute and/or to the banking and financial industry, and at senior management or executive director level, preferably with at least ten years banking or finance related working experience.
Honorary Member
Honorary Membership is elected by Council following a recommendation by the Executive Committee, having proven contribution to the Institute e.g. ex-members of Council or the Executive Committee.
Professional Member
It is suitable for individuals who have completed HKIB professional qualification examinations e.g. Certified Banker, CB (Stage II), CB (Stage I), Certified Financial Management Planner (CFMPTM), Certified AML Professional (CAMLP) and Associate AML Professional (AAMLP), and have at least one year banking or finance related working experience.
Ordinary Member
Ordinary Membership is for those who are pursuing HKIB professional qualifications or individuals who are looking for HKIB affiliation in order to receive market updates on the banking industry or enjoy networking opportunities. This membership class is not limited to individuals in banking and financial employment and there are no requirements for professional qualifications and/ or relevant working experience.

Student Member
HKIB Student Membership is indispensable for full-time post-secondary students, as they can study HKIB qualifications and access resources and support to help them succeed in their studies and progress their career, while staying connected to the professional banking community. Full-time post-secondary students of any disciplines from registered education institutions in Hong Kong, Macao, mainland China or overseas are eligible to apply for Student Membership.
