OVERVIEW
Certified Banker (CB) is a professional qualification developed and offered by the HKIB to help banking practitioners at all levels to raise their professional standards with skills relevant for the fast-changing banking environment. It also provides a common qualification benchmark that is recognised by regulators and leading authorised institutions.
The programmes of CB encompass both generic and specialist topics. It also integrates the programmes developed by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF), which are the building blocks of CB.

Macao Development
To promote greater collaboration and mobility of talent between Hong Kong and Macao, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (‘HKMA’) and the Monetary Authority of Macao (‘AMCM’) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (‘MOU’) on 26 October 2018 in Macao to jointly promote and mutually recognise localized professional training and certifications under the Enhanced Competence Framework (ECF). Under the MOU, HKIB is designated to administer several professional areas under the ECF in collaboration with the Macau Institute of Financial Services (‘MIFS’).
To meet both ends as mentioned above, the HKIB and MIFS work collaboratively to co-launch the Advanced Diploma Programme for Certified Banker (Macao) in the first quarter of 2019 with the ECF on AML/CFT Macao (Core Level) integrated as one of the five modules in the Programme.
The Programme Structure of the Advanced Diploma Programme for Certified Banker (Stage 1) - Macao is as follow:

Upon the completion of the ECF on AML/CFT (Core Level) – Macao, the qualification "Advanced Certificate for ECF on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Macao" would be jointly awarded by HKIB and MIFS. The designation of "AAMLP (Macao)" would be granted upon fulfilling the designation requirement.
Upon the completion of the remaining four modules as specified in the programme structure above, the qualification for "Advanced Diploma for Certified Banker Macao" would be jointly awarded by HKIB and MIFS. The destination of "CB Macao (Stage 1)" would be granted upon fulfilling the destination requirements.
Entry Requirements
Candidates of the Certified Banker Macao (Stage I) must be HKIB Individual Members and fulfill one of the following minimum entry requirements:
- Associate Degree / Higher Diploma Students in ANY discipline; OR
- Equivalent qualifications or above; OR
- Mature Applicants with 3 years of relevant banking experience with recommendations from employer.
Becoming a Certified Banker Macao
Certified Banker Macao contains three stages, reflecting the different levels of experiences and skills of an individual. The CB is suitable for current banking and financial practitioners who wish to deepen industry knowledge for career advancement, as well as post-secondary full-time students who wish to join the banking profession after graduation.
Individual Members who have completed a particular level and acquired the relevant years of banking or finance related work experience will be entitled to use the respective CB designations.
